19.5 inches long
I was scheduled to induce 7 pm 2/16/14.
Labor began 3 am Sunday February 16, 2014.
We went to hospital an hour early on February 16th because of I had difficultly breathing with terrible rib and back pain. The source of pain was because of severe cough, the way the baby pushed on my ribs, and contractions.
It took for ever for them to get a room set up for us. I think we did not get settle until after 9pm.
I was so uncomfortable all night with the pain in my ribs and back the discomfort of the dip going into my hand.

I was given cytotec twice, four hours apart. I dilated from a 1 to a 2cm in 8 hours. Around 8 am Dr Ohara broke my water and started me on a pitocin drip. Soon my contractions started becoming super intense. I could not move into different positions because it was so painful in every position.
My back pain from cough was so severe with cold cough and it was difficult to breath through pain from contractions. I asked for pain meds and started on epidural. I felt a little relief but no much and complained of continued pain. The catheter was so painful as well. I asked repeatedly for it to be removed.
I told the nurse that it felt like I needed to poop she said that was the baby moving. I insisted that the pressure was really bad and I needed to go to the bathroom.
I told her I was really concern the baby was coming she checked an I had dilated to 5 1/2 cm 1/2 effaced.
Dr came in around 9am and stated that my increased dilation was a good sign and baby would be there around 2 pm.
I complained that I felt the contractions he seemed worried but did not take immediate action. He just told me to push the epidural drip.
Tony was hungry so I told him to get something to eat. As soon as he left I felt the overwhelming feeling to push and I called on the nurse.
My nurse was on break, so the relief nurse checked me an observed I was 9.5 cm (changed in less than an hour). Panicking that I would have the baby any second, I called Tony who rush back. Meanwhile the room turned into total organized chaos while nurses paged my doctor and got the room ready for delivery.
Tony, my nurse, and I pushed together about 6 times. I had to stop pushing because the baby was already on her way out and the doctor was not there yet.
Soon the doctor came in and it only took three sets of pushing and baby, Lyra, was born.

Tony discovered the next day my epidural line was kinked so I only received the first bit of the drug and delivered without any epidural.
As I held Lyra Virginia Ransom to my bare chest Dr. Ohara stitched me up with a local (because he thought the epidural was working). He yelled to the nurses, "Why is she feeling this". And to me he would say, "just one more stich". With each stich I scream with pure agony. That was the worse pain I have ever felt!
We gave birth to the most perfect little baby girl! I am so grateful for a safe delivery and a healthy baby.
We did elect not to have anything done to the baby after an hour of skin to skin bonding. We also decided not to get the vitamin shot and wait for the hepatitis shot until the first round of vaccines.

Lyra did have jaundice so I had to stay an extra day in the hospital. I had to give her formula from the start because my milk was not in, nor did I ever make enough from her despite all that I did to get my supply up.
Her latch was poor so we investigated her tongue and lip tie and had them both cut. A very trying experience for mom and baby.
I went to lactation group meetings twice a week. Tried supplementing with a syringe, went to lactation consultants, tried exclusively pumping, all coming to an end after a trip to Ohio. I discovered breast feeding was just to difficult for baby and I.
Now I know what I would do differently in the future. Not clean dusty places (how I got sick) while pregnant, not take Sudafed even if doctor gives it to me (decreases milk production), not supplement with syringe (to hard), pump more in the beginning), and sleep more when the baby slept (get more help around the house and with other kids).
